<p>Karate’s rising stars prevail in thrilling #Karate1Fujairah</p>
<p>arate’s rising stars conquered the 2022 Karate 1-Premier League event being held in Fujairah (UAE) this weekend. Up-and-coming karatekas took the competition by storm after defeating top favourites on the closing day of the competition.</p>
<p>Anna Chernysheva of Russia headed the revolution of up-and-coming karatekas in Fujairah. The 20-year-old current European champion defeated Grand Winner Anzhelika Terliuga of Ukraine 3-2 in a tight final of Female Kumite -55kg. It is Chernysheva’s second consecutive gold in Karate 1-Premier League after her victory at home in Moscow last year.</p>
<p>Youngsters’ success today continued in Female Kumite -61kg. 22-year-old Alessandra Mangiacapra of Italy won her first international title after defeating Olympian Anita Serogina of Ukraine 2-0.</p>

<p>Promising karatekas also took a stand in Male Kumite -60kg. Abdallah Hammad of Jordan who just won his first international title at the Asian Championships claimed his first Karate 1-Premier League crown following a slim 1-0 victory over Iurik Ogannisian of Russia.</p>
<p>In Male Kata, 20-year-old Enes Ozdemir of Turkey starred in one of the biggest upsets of the day. The current U21 European champion defeated Kazumasa Moto of Japan and won his second Karate 1-Premier League title. Ozdemir took the final by 26.52 to 26.46.</p>
<p>KIYOU SHIMIZU GOES BACK TO WINNING WAYS</p>
<p>Kiyou Shimizu of Japan produced an impressive comeback to the international scene. After six months of absence, the Olympic Games silver medallist prevailed in Female Kata. The two-time World champion from Japan defeated team-mate Hikaru Ono by 26.86 to 26.06.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, World champion Irina Zaretska of Azerbaijan was one of the few favourites shinning today. The Olympic Games silver medallist and World titleholder beat Olympian Silvia Semeraro of Italy 5-2 in the thrilling final of Female Kumite -68kg.</p>
<p>Olympian Moldir Zhangbyrbay used experience in her favour to win the title in Female Kumite -50kg. The current Asian champion beat Yasmin Nasr Elgewily of Egypt 2-1 in the final.</p>
<p>POWERHOUSE NATIONS TOP MEDAL TABLE</p>
<p>Egypt headed the medal table of the event after claiming three gold medals today. The title count for the powerhouse nation started in Male Kumite -75kg. Olympian Abdalla Abdelaziz defeated Gabor Karoly Harspataki of Hungary 4-2.</p>
<p>The all-Egypt final of Male Kumite -84kg ended with World champion Youssef Badawy taking the title after beating team-mate Mohamed Ramadan 4-0.</p>

<p>The category of Male Kumite +84kg also had two Egyptian competitors fighting for gold. The victory went to Mohamed Hazem who defeated team-mate Taha Mahmoud by “Senshuu” or first unopposed point (3-3).</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Kazakhstan continued showing strength and they claimed one more medal today. Didar Amirali took the flag of the powerhouse nation of the sport to the top of the podium in Male Kumite -67kg. The current Asian Championship bronze medallist claimed a convincing 6-0 victory over Tural Aghalarzade of Azerbaijan.</p>
<p>The last final of the day in Female Kumite was taken by Nancy Garcia of France who prevailed in Female Kumite +68kg. The 26-year-old winner of the 2018 Karate 1-Premier League Tokyo upset World Champion Maria Torres of Spain in an outstanding final bout 8-7.</p>
<p>After the thrilling event in Fujairah (UAE), the Karate 1-Premier League travels now to Oporto (Portugal) where the second event of the season will be held from April 22 to 24.</p>

<p>Grand Winners to be honoured at #Karate1Fujairah</p>
<p>The awarding ceremony of the new Grand Winners will be held in Fujairah (UAE) during the first Karate 1-Premier League event of the year.</p>
<p>The “Best of the Best” will be honoured at a ceremony which is scheduled for Sunday, February 20. The crowning of the Grand Winners will take place right after the medal ceremony of the anticipated 2022 Karate 1-Premier League Fujairah.</p>
<p>The new Grand Winners will receive the trophy and diploma that accredit their status as the Best of the Best in each of the 12 categories.</p>
<p>The Grand Winners award recognises the best competitors in each category of the Karate 1-Premier League. In addition to prize money and a trophy and diploma, the “Best of the Best” earn the right to wear the special karategi with the golden embroidery on the shoulder at all the Karate 1-Premier League events of the season.</p>
